The Girl Who Saved the World

In 20XX, an advanced extraterrestrial civilization issued an order: due to a shortage of resources in the universe, it would selectively destroy some star systems.

Unfortunately, Earth was on the list.

Whether a planet would be destroyed depended on the extraterrestrial civilization's assessment of the most virtuous and good person on that planet.

In other words, Earth's survival rested entirely on this one supremely virtuous human being.

The [Savior] Project was launched on Earth in response.

But what no world leader, top scientist, anthropologist, or sociologist could have imagined was this:

The saviors chosen by the alien civilization, the supposedly supremely virtuous ones, were three ordinary Chinese elementary schoolgirls.

Fifth grade, West Street Road Affiliated Elementary School. The three best friends:

Lin Zhaoyang, girl, 11, the school's famous "Idea Queen"

Zhou Meiyu, girl, 12, the school's famous "Strong Girl"

Wang Shuo, girl, 11, the school's famous "Don't Mess With Her"

The world is about to end, but the three fifth-graders' biggest worries right now are:

Chili oil dripped onto their homework.

Their favorite teacher is quitting.

Boys are so annoying.

Their chests hurt from puberty, and they get hungry so quickly.

Why have so many girls in their class started menstruating when they haven't?

Their favorite cartoon, "Girls' Big Adventure," has been canceled halfway through.

And...

What if they can't all go to the same middle school?

The world leaders, top scientists, anthropologists, and sociologists have no words.

Earth is doomed!

Reader's Guide

1. Lots of everyday life.

2. They're real elementary schoolers, not perfect.

3. The three protagonists have no romantic pairings. One develops a passing interest in romance (a little girl's curiosity about boys), but nothing comes of it.

4. There is a little science-fictional alien background, but it isn't very sci-fi. It's mostly everyday life on Earth.

Girls save the world, a fairy tale for adults.
