The Tale of Omiya-kun

Modern scholar Lin Jinjiang suffers a heart attack and awakens in the Heian era as the despised, unattractive “Lady Omi.” Refusing to blacken her teeth and shave her eyebrows, she enters the palace as a lady-in-waiting and witnesses the tragedies of countless women hidden beneath their makeup. She hides away ink and brush, follows the sages' example by writing biographies of women, and turns their blood and tears into The Tale of Genji. Exiled to a deserted island, she burns her manuscript on a snowy night and signs it “Murasaki Shikibu.” A thousand years later, fragments of the lost work resurface at last, and her story is finally heard.
