Kite on a Deserted Island

Shanghai, an isolated island, 1941.

Zheng Yaoxian, the Juntong's ace agent known as “Guizi Liu,” arrives at the Shanghai station as deputy chief and launches a bloody campaign against Japanese and puppet forces in the French Concession. Ruthless and always several steps ahead, he's the enemy's most fearsome opponent and the most dependable big brother in the eyes of his comrades.

No one knows his true codename is “Kite,” a top-secret Communist operative working undercover. Every day, he walks a razor's edge: carrying out deadly Juntong missions while passing vital intelligence to the Party, enduring suspicion and attempted assassinations from his comrades while facing three separate threats from the Japanese and puppet forces, the Juntong itself, and the mysterious “Shadow.”

This is a war without gunfire, yet more brutal than any other. In the fog-shrouded streets of Shanghai, where trust and betrayal, loyalty and survival blur together, he must forge a desperate path to dawn with the blood of his enemies.
