Short Videos: Everything I Watch Is Livestreamed Across Time and Space

Su Chen was a small-time streamer who’d passed out from hunger during a livestream. When he opened his eyes again, he was in a parallel world, still so poor he could barely afford to eat.

This new world had an app called “Douyin” that was ridiculously addictive. Just as he thought his life was about to repeat itself, a strange System forcibly bound itself to him. Any video he watched would be livestreamed to five historical eras in the form of a sky screen!

And so:

As Qin Shi Huang pondered the secret of immortality, a moving, fluffy “mythical beast” suddenly appeared in the sky. The entire court erupted in shock. “Is this an immortal art? Summon the alchemists at once!”

As Emperor Wu of Han pointed his sword toward the northern frontier, adorable pets appeared on the sky screen, tumbling around. The emperor narrowed his sharp eyes. “This beast is swift. Could it serve as a military scout?”

As Li Shimin discussed state affairs with his ministers, images flickered through the air, showing an adorably clumsy puppy. The Prince of Qin rested a hand on his sword and pondered. “Could this projection technique be used to spy on enemy formations?”

Zhu Di flew into a royal rage when a “demon” appeared in the night sky above Beiping. His furious shout echoed through the palace. “It must be one of Jianwen’s surviving followers! Investigate this for Us!”

Emperor Qianlong was busy congratulating himself on being “perfect in all ten aspects” when a “demon mirror” flashed overhead, its strange characters seeming to mock him. He instantly exploded with rage. “Insolence! Shoot it down!”

Meanwhile, as Su Chen watched the “Astonishment Points” from emperors of every age soar on his System screen, he quietly opened his collection of thrilling videos: “Unsolved Mysteries of the World,” “A Rundown of Ancient High-Tech,” and “What If History Had Live Comments?”

“Dear ancestors,” he said with a smile, flexing his fingers. “Let’s switch things up and serve something more appetizing for today’s ‘digital side dish.’”
