Veiled in Silk: Xi Shi

Xishi is the beauty whose face launched a nation in the history books, the gentlest blade in the struggle between Wu and Yue.

Yiguang is a girl who washes silk by a clear stream, an ordinary young woman who pauses to watch fish swim upstream toward peach blossoms and delights in a length of hemp cloth.

When the two names are forcibly joined, and an individual's fate is swept into the raging current of nations, she struggles between the splendor of the royal palace and the clarity of the stream, breaking free from the destiny of a “chess piece” in pursuit of her own desires.

Two thousand years later, let the river breeze brush away the ink-dark judgments and reveal the soul floating on spring waters, fragrant with hemp. She is not a footnote to a legend. She is simply Shi Yiguang.
