The Secret Case of Black Fox Cave

In Black Fox Cave on Black Mountain in Longtan Township, a forbidden place the Yi villagers consider a “cave of deadly ill omens,” the bachelor Liu Facai accidentally discovers an unidentified man's corpse while cutting broom grass. Terrified, he scrambles off to report it. Zhao Rong, deputy head of the county Public Security Bureau, leads a team into the remote mountains to investigate, only to find an ancient Yi totem jade pendant on the body. The cause of death also closely matches that of a herb gatherer who disappeared in an unsolved case ten years earlier. As the investigation proceeds, village gossip, eerie warnings from Yi elders, and interference from unknown forces follow one after another. Because he knows the mountain terrain so well, Liu Facai is drawn into the investigation. Initially timid and eager to run, he repeatedly turns up vital clues thanks to his practical experience. As Zhao Rong cracks the mystery, he also uncovers a hidden connection between himself and the decade-old case, along with an emotional entanglement buried deep in his heart. Cases within cases unfold, weaving together Yi cultural taboos and the struggle of human nature. When the truth finally comes to light, the guilty are punished, and Liu Facai escapes his marginalized identity as an “old bachelor,” earning respect and finding love. But another secret hidden deep within Black Fox Cave sets the stage for a new mystery. My new work is out! Come read it on Tomato Novel. I hope you enjoy it.
