Ancient Smoke Rises, Bringing Warmth to the Wilderness

She awakens on a vast wilderness plain, surrounded by the howling of primeval forests and dangers she cannot begin to understand. In her confusion, she joins a small tribe on the verge of collapse. There are no fine houses here, only crude caves; no plentiful food, only hunting and gathering that may not sustain them from one day to the next; no peaceful life, only wind, frost, rain, and snow, as well as the covetous gaze of neighboring tribes. Bringing with her a little modern survival know-how, A He begins to find her footing in ancient times, starting with identifying wild greens and making fire with sticks. She teaches the tribe to store food and build sturdy homes, carefully eases its internal conflicts, and wins the people around her over with her warmth and kindness. In this uncivilized land, she must contend not only with the harsh natural environment, but also with the complexities of human nature. And as she spends day after day with those around her, she finds sincere friendships and a deep, abiding love. From an unremarkable outsider in the tribe to someone everyone relies on, A He uses her resilience and tenderness to kindle an enduring warmth on this ancient earth.
