Gene Strings: The Forest of Whispers

In a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by genetic collapse, the last bastion of purity, Veridia, regards the “Whispering Forest” beyond its walls as a forbidden place and a plague.

Kai, a young man from the lower city, has a sister suffering from the terminal illness “Genetic Oblivion.” Her life is running out. When cold technology pronounces her doomed, the only hope points to the very forest that has been cursed.

To save the person he loves most, Kai sets out on a road from which there is no return. He will bond with a mysterious life-form known as “Mycelial Echo,” weaving forbidden genetic strands from his own flesh as he searches for the truth of the world, hunted by both mutated monsters and the ruthless “Purifiers.”

When “purity” means withering away, but “contamination” brings new life, what will he choose? Will he survive as a “monster,” or perish alongside everyone else as a “human”?

This is a story of sacrifice and growth, and of redefining “life” on the wasteland.
