The New Immortal Rift

In the Eternal City of Aiteburg, memories are currency, the foundation of power, and the most lethal drug of all. People can sell their painful pasts in exchange for a fleeting moment of joy, while the powerful consume the wisdom and experience of others to build an immortal reign.

Karen is a master Memory Weaver, but his gift is also his curse: when he extracts a memory, he experiences everything in it firsthand. He wanders among the lingering echoes of other people's lives, no longer able to tell what is himself and what is merely an echo.

A seemingly ordinary request to extract a dying person's memories draws him into a conspiracy that could overturn the entire city. By chance, he acquires a “key” that can unlock the truth about the world: a terrifying, encrypted memory belonging to one of the city's founders. The key is both the prize coveted by the ruling Luminous Council and the sole hope of the underground rebel group, the Forgotten Chorus, for bringing down the old world.

As the “Source of Consciousness” for the entire city, the enormous crystalline tree known as the Silent Tree, begins to sound its death knell, and pursuit and lies close in from every direction, Karen must choose: will he remain a numb bystander, or face the pain and love that are not his own and weave a path to salvation? In this prison built from memories, what he must reclaim is not only the truth about the world, but also the identity that was stolen from him.
