Bitter Poison in the Back Seat of a Bentley

A piece of candy beneath the old locust tree in Jiang Village was how Li Mei and Mi Xian first met, with a tender sweetness. The final words she left him after giving birth, as her life ran out, marked the end of his road to redemption.

Childhood trauma and a broken family split Mi Xian, once a lawyer, into two souls: one gentle, the other violent. He is both an elite who dominates the business world and a ruthless schemer, yet he turns his longing for love into a “cage” for Li Mei, venting his pain through violence and hiding his sins behind remorse.

Li Mei is the only light in his darkness. She struggles to hold on under the shadow of domestic abuse, and the child they unexpectedly have becomes his only motivation to treat his split personality. But years of torment finally drain her of life, leaving only one plea: “Don’t let the child go through the same thing.”

After his father is released from prison and his mother returns, the broken family comes together again. The Mi family business flourishes, yet Mi Xian trades his Bentley for a motorcycle to take his child to school. This is a story of trauma and redemption. Only after the madness fades does he understand that true strength lies in acceptance, and true redemption means living gently, guided by the hopes of those you love.
