From the Start, I Awakened Divine Perception and Solve Cases Like a God

Three months ago, I was the best scout in the border army. After I stumbled upon my superior colluding with the enemy, he turned around and framed me for murder. My portrait was circulated, and I was wanted across the land.

A fugitive with nowhere to go, I hid in the capital’s roughest neighborhood, taking shelter at an inn run by a bewitchingly charming landlady. I scraped by each day helping out in the kitchen.

I thought my life was over.

Then a murder took place at the inn.

The victim was a wealthy merchant, killed with a single sword thrust to the throat. The authorities investigated for three days before concluding it was a revenge killing, but they had no leads at all.

What they didn’t know was that after awakening on the brink of death, my world had changed.

I could smell the killer’s distinctive incense lingering in the air from three days earlier. I could hear a constable in the next room grumbling under his breath, and detect his irregular heartbeat as he lied. I could even touch the teacup the victim had used and sense the faint mix of fear and shock he’d felt just before he died.
