The Marquis’s Daughter Is No Easy Target: Farming to Feed Her Family Shakes the World

The day my entire family was executed, the capital was blanketed in snow.

They thought Su Jinse, the Hou Manor’s legitimate daughter, had died in that great fire long ago. But there I was, holding my little brother in my arms and gnawing on hard, dry cornbread in a godforsaken village.

Everyone was waiting to see how a useless girl like me, too weak to carry a load or lift a finger, would starve to death.

They didn’t know that the wasteland was deafening to my ears: the potatoes beneath my feet were crying out for water, the wild ginseng on South Mountain was begging me to dig it up, and even the old hen at the village entrance was complaining that a weasel had stolen yesterday’s egg.

Later, I used this “insignificant” talent to grow royal tribute crops and raise rare birds worth a fortune.

Just as I was getting ready to return to the capital and kill my enemies with my own hands, the taciturn, rugged woodcutter who always brought me meat pressed a military command tally into my hand.
