The Female Archivist of Strange Cases at the Government Office

Shen Yan, a female official in the Ministry of Personnel of the Great Jing, entered government service through the imperial examinations. But because of her unusual ability to glimpse the past by touching old objects, she was banished to the obscure Office of Historical Records. On her first day, she takes on a difficult cold case: the massacre of a censor’s entire family three years ago. The only clue is half a jade pendant engraved with the character “Lu.”

While investigating, she runs into her immediate superior, Lu Jiming, a stern-faced deputy minister who is also looking into the case. Shen Yan uses her gift to uncover crucial clues from old objects, while Lu Jiming draws on his experience in officialdom to track down the culprit step by step. They go from warily guarding against each other to joining forces to crack the case.

“Chief Shen, how many secrets does your ‘gift’ conceal?” “Deputy Minister Lu, let’s finish the investigation before we discuss secrets. After all, this case involves your Lu family too.”
