Core premise:

Behind the glitz and glamour of the smash-hit immersive escape-room variety show Escape Detective lies a shocking conspiracy capable of overturning everything people believe. When Lin Xiaole, a trainee entertainer with extraordinary empathy, accidentally stumbles upon the production team’s secretive, sinister experiments, she and her fellow guests are forced to go from being “players” in a script to “survivors” trapped in a real-life web of intrigue. They include Bai Jingming, an actor with extraordinary intelligence; Zhang Xingchen, a tech genius; Guo Yunfan, a top-tier star of the crosstalk scene; Zhang Guoli, the team’s muscle; and Yang Mi, a queen among actresses.

They gradually discover that the filming set is actually the perfect cover for a criminal organization known as the Eye of Prometheus to conduct high-risk experiments in subconscious manipulation and neural interference. From an eerie mental health clinic to a cyberpunk metropolis of the future, every recording session is a life-or-death ordeal, and any prop could conceal a deadly trap.
