Insect Queen: Save the World from Extinction

Zhang Wanyi’s life hits rock bottom at thirty-eight. Unemployed, in debt, and hounded for rent, she lives cooped up in a hot, noisy rental room. Her only hope is the web novel nobody reads. But worse than poverty is the relentless insect infestation: moths, locusts, cockroaches. They swarm as if they mean to devour what little remains of her sanity.

On the verge of collapse, she spends everything she has on insecticide and sprays it in a desperate, all-or-nothing attempt. Amid the poisonous fog, she doesn’t die. Instead, she accidentally activates an ancient, mysterious [Earth Ecological Regulation System]. From then on, the “pests” around the world no longer frighten her. In her eyes, they become an “Insect Alliance” that can sense emotions and follow commands.

Going from abject fear to a measure of control, Zhang Wanyi discovers that she can “hear” the murmurs of insect nests, direct bees and butterflies to pollinate, and have ants clean up garbage. Combining the System’s advanced knowledge with her own scientific background, she develops groundbreaking environmental technologies. Starting with a wildly popular “pheromone insect-repellent sachet,” she founds Nature’s Wings and builds her own business and environmental empire, step by step.

Old enemies who once stood by coldly, chemical-industry giants who monopolize the market, and academic authorities who question her all come after her one after another. The business and public-opinion battles keep her on edge. But this time, Zhang Wanyi is not alone. Behind her is an ecological monitoring network made up of trillions of insects. And there is also the venture capital tycoon Gu Yunshen, the man who invested heavily in her when she had next to nothing. He brings more than capital: he gives her unwavering trust and warmth.
