Kissing the Starry River at Dusk

The love between Rong Qingli and Huo Mingxiu began with their everyday encounters at the Huo Hotel. She was the housekeeping manager, running her corner of the world with professionalism and warmth. He was the general manager of the Huo Group, a master strategist in the business world, yet with her alone he let down every cold, guarded wall. They kept their relationship secret, quietly registered their marriage, and planned to hold a grand wedding when the time was right.

But their understated happiness was shattered by Huo Mingxiu’s secretary. She had been in love with him for years, unaware he was married, and never realizing Rong Qingli was the president’s wife. Seeing Huo Mingxiu occasionally pay attention to Rong Qingli, she began to see her as a thorn in her side. She mocked Rong Qingli in public, saying, “Someone of your low status doesn’t deserve to be near Mr. Huo,” then abused her authority in private, ordering her subordinates to lock Rong Qingli up by force in an attempt to threaten her into leaving.

Trapped in a cramped space, Rong Qingli felt both wronged and resolute. She had never felt inferior because of their difference in rank, and she would never give up on love because of someone else’s cruelty. Meanwhile, when Huo Mingxiu realized Rong Qingli had gone missing, his usual composure vanished in an instant. A storm of protection and retribution was about to break. Their love, born in the ordinary, was facing its greatest trial yet, as power and prejudice closed in.
