The Orange Tabby Empress Is a Drama Queen

After transmigrating into the cold-palace empress Shen Ju, she planned to spend her remaining days tending her catnip garden. Then, one day, a tiny child appeared out of nowhere. The three-year-old princess clung to her leg and called her Mother, while Emperor Xiao Che followed behind, trying to feed the girl with the same technique he used to review memorials. Shen Ju looked at the cat, then the child, then the emperor who seemed cold but couldn’t even handle his daughter’s picky eating, and sighed. Why was managing the harem harder than raising kittens? Before long, the women of the Six Palaces began to notice: The empress’s palace was always filled with tempting aromas, enough to cure the princess’s poor appetite. A lazy imperial cat was always curled up on the empress’s lap, soaking up the emperor’s worries. The empress always had some curious little trinket on hand to cheer up her “children,” big and small. Xiao Che realized his empress was like a sly orange cat. Most of the time, she lounged in the sun, but when it mattered, one swipe of her paw could soothe their crying daughter. And with another swipe... she clawed her way into his heart. This is the cozy everyday tale of a “cat-loving empress” forced to moonlight as an expert nanny, who eventually tames even the cold emperor into a devoted “cat slave.” The beauties of the Six Palaces? No match for an orange cat.
