Cooking in the Cold Palace

The heroine is the heir to a family of imperial chefs. She enters the palace as a bride meant to bring good fortune to her sick husband, only to be framed on her wedding night and sent by the emperor to the Cold Palace. In the abandoned courtyard, shunned by everyone, she revives her family’s culinary traditions, transforming meager ingredients into exquisite dishes with her skillful hands. At first, she cooks simply to comfort herself in desperate circumstances. She never expects the tempting aromas to waft over the palace walls, first attracting a kind young eunuch, then drawing in the emperor, who is tired of delicacies and long since bored with the imperial kitchen. The emperor goes from disdain to astonishment, then starts sneaking into the Cold Palace every day to mooch a meal. With one delicious dish after another, the heroine improves her life, wins people over, and claims a place in the emperor’s heart like no other. In the end, she follows the clues hidden in her food to uncover the truth behind the frame-up and bring the culprit, a jealous consort, down. She refuses the throne and asks only to oversee the imperial kitchens throughout the realm, becoming the most powerful “Goddess of Cuisine” in history and achieving freedom and greatness on her own terms.
