An Alien Cat Scammed Me, and Now I Have to Save the Universe

Wang Dachui is an ordinary office drone who repairs phones in an urban village. His biggest dream is to save enough money to buy a new nonstick pan. Then one day, an orange cat with a mohawk scams him. The cat can not only talk, but also pulls out a rusty “Cosmic Warranty Card,” claiming its spaceship broke down in Earth's atmosphere and Wang Dachui is the only “Chosen Repairman” in the entire universe who can fix it.

From repairing phones to fixing spaceships, from dealing with urban management officers to taking on an alien demolition crew, from a neighborhood in China to a Martian night market, Wang Dachui's life goes completely off the rails. He has to install antivirus software for a snarky AI System, put a screen protector on an alien emperor's “brain-computer,” and even help Martians resolve an interstellar dispute sparked by noise pollution from square dancing. And the most absurd part? The alien cat says the universe is undergoing a “System crash,” caused by someone at the edge of the Milky Way freeloading off the neighbors' Wi-Fi way too much...

Threatened with “Fix the spaceship or Earth blows up,” Wang Dachui is forced to set off with the orange cat. Along the way, he picks up an alien intern who firmly believes Earth is flat, takes in an antique robot that loves playing “Love, Transaction,” and has to outsmart a cosmic banker who's after his debts. Saving the universe is just a matter of jumping from one mess into an even bigger one. After all, when you discover that the moon is actually a forgotten power bank, and that black holes are just the universe's “trash cans,” you know the universe is just as absurd as Wang Dachui's life, which went off the rails a long time ago.
