An unknown virus suddenly breaks out in a modern city, which is sealed off and divided into “survival zones.” Su Wantang, a cemetery keeper who inherited management of her grandmother’s cemetery, has access to its emergency supplies and knows its safe routes. Lawyer Lu Mingyuan is searching for his missing younger sister and needs a secure place to stay, so he proposes a partnership with Su Wantang in exchange for a “marriage of convenience.” They begin wary of each other: Su Wantang distrusts Lu Mingyuan’s cold calculations, while he looks down on her status as a “cemetery keeper.” But as they struggle to survive the apocalypse, their softer sides emerge. Su Wantang uses the medicinal herbs her grandmother left behind to treat Lu Mingyuan’s injuries, while he draws on his legal expertise to help her plan how to distribute supplies. He even clashes with a gang to protect her. In the end, as they search for his sister, they realize they have already become each other’s reason to keep surviving, and their contract marriage turns into genuine dependence.
