Bronze Through Time: A Western Zhou Chronicle by an Archaeologist

During the excavation of a Warring States tomb, archaeologist Lin Yan touched a bronze goblet inscribed with the words “King Gong” and was caught in a strange tomb collapse. Amid swirling taotie patterns, the ancient resonance of chime bells, and a peculiar sweet fragrance, he plunged into darkness. When he awoke, he was on an ancient road on Mount Mang in the late Western Zhou.

In 828 BCE, during the fourteenth year of the Gonghe Regency, a chaotic age of crumbling rites and music was quietly taking shape. Rescued by a hunter named Shi, Lin Yan took up temporary residence in the Taolin Pass tribe under the guise of a lost merchant. His modern archaeological knowledge became his key to survival: he used toxicology to save children who had eaten poisonous wild berries, applied his knowledge of water engineering to guide the tribe in digging a deep well, and explained celestial anomalies with astronomy and calendars. Little by little, he won the villagers’ trust.

The legend of a divine cauldron passed down through the tribe stirred his curiosity. This mysterious object, supposedly cast from a meteorite, was said to hold the secret of transmigrating through time. When the celestial omen known as “Mars guarding the Heart” sparked a crisis involving the sacrifice of a living person, Lin Yan risked using science to create a “miracle.” Not only did he save an innocent young woman, he also uncovered the thousand-year secret of the tribe’s guardianship of fragments of the divine cauldron.

The resonance between the bronze goblet and the cauldron fragments confirmed the truth about his transmigration. As the Western Rong cavalry launched a surprise attack, Lin Yan used the power of the cauldron fragments to repel the enemy, but also triggered a mechanism that reversed the flow of time. After he returned to the modern world, the discovery of the tribe’s totem patterns in the tomb proved that his adventure in the Western Zhou had been no dream, but a verifiable mark of history.
