Transmigrating to the Apricot Grove: The Lifesaving Herb of Qingxi Village

Lin Wei, a modern cardiothoracic surgeon and member of a family with generations of traditional Chinese medicine practitioners, is skilled in both Chinese and Western medicine. During an unexpected cave exploration, an ancient jade pendant carved with medicinal-herb patterns sends her to Qingzhou in the third year of Yong'an, a place and time never recorded in history.

When she awakens in an unfamiliar primeval forest, her familiar white coat has been replaced by rough homespun clothes, and her scalpel by a woodcutter’s knife for self-defense. Only the jade pendant at her neck and the silver needles she carries remind her of her calling as a doctor. By chance, she stumbles upon Qingxi Village, where a plague is raging. The villagers are suffering from a strange illness that causes fever, red rashes, and difficulty breathing. The local doctors are helpless, while the government physicians only go through the motions. The shadow of death hangs over the entire village.

Faced with the villagers’ suffering and trust, Lin Wei resolutely takes on the responsibility of treating them. Enduring doubts about her unknown origins and the physical and mental exhaustion of her journey through time, she ventures alone into the perilous mountains of Heifeng Pass to gather herbs. When a black bear attacks her, she is rescued by the hunter Qin Feng. They are brought together by herbs and illness: she uses modern medical knowledge to diagnose the cause, while he relies on his experience in the mountains to secure a supply of medicinal ingredients.

She discovers that the villagers’ strange illness is caused by contaminated water. She innovatively combines Chinese and Western medicine: using herbs such as zixuan grass and honeysuckle to clear heat and detoxify, treating patients with silver-needle acupuncture to restore the flow of qi and blood, teaching villagers to make simple water filters, and setting up an isolation zone to stop the disease from spreading. In an ancient village short on doctors and medicine, she uses modern medical principles to fight the plague. From being met with suspicion at first, she gradually earns the honorific “Divine Doctor Lin.”
