From the Inner Palace to Jiangnan, An Lingrong Goes on a Rampage

Having shed the finery and jewels of the Forbidden City, An Lingrong and her sisters withdraw to a painted pleasure boat in the misty rain of Jiangnan. The clatter of the abacus at Suiyu Pavilion, the incense burner at Shizong Studio, and the fresh scent of herbs from the garden weave together into a new daily life. Yet the shadows of the past have not faded, and the waters of Jiangnan’s business world are not entirely calm. Rumors spread by silk merchants cling like the plum rains, while the canal gangs’ probing feels like a current running beneath the river’s surface. They no longer wield knives, but face each challenge with greater composure: wisdom curls from An Lingrong’s incense burner, Meizhuang’s ledgers reveal sharp insight, and Nian Shilan’s laughter puts an end to conflict. There is no bloodshed, only sisters united in heart, protecting this hard-won home through one crisis after another. They turn the deep palace’s schemes into practical wisdom and, in the streets and markets of Jiangnan, write a different kind of “decisive action”: overcoming strength with gentleness, smoothing over turbulence with warmth, and protecting their home with care. Watch as they turn their harrowing past into a peaceful life that flows on like a gentle stream.
