Seeking Fortune, Avoiding Misfortune: Slashing Through a Chaotic Age with the Worst Omen

Chen Feng transmigrated to a martial-arts continent. It was a turbulent year in the dynasty, with a chaotic world and a corrupt court. As a hunter living in the shadow of the Hundred Thousand Mountains, Chen Feng should have had a pretty comfortable life. But harsh rule was fiercer than a tiger, and cruel officials squeezed every last drop from the people. Meanwhile, his father had died in the mountains, leaving behind only a child bride who had just joined the family. To make matters worse, he had only one month left to pay the mountain tax. If he failed, he would be sent off to perform corvee labor. Watching his child bride weep, Su Ang reached a crossroads. Should he flee with her, or escape alone? As for paying the tax, there was no way he was paying it. Just then, the Book of Imperial Omens appeared and gave Chen Feng three choices. [Worst Omen: Flee with your wife Lin Yun, but villager Chen Liu informs on you. Your escape fails, and after you are beaten half to death, you are sent to dig in a black mine. Chen Liu takes your wife, leaving you with a green hat. Certain death awaits.] [Poor Omen: Flee alone, run into bandits on the road, and get dragged up their mountain to become one of them. Your prospects are bleak, and endless trouble lies ahead.] [Good Omen: Go to Hutou Mountain. Before the third quarter of the You hour, find a large bluestone. Dig around it to uncover a minor opportunity, conceal your tracks, and avoid any future trouble.] “Heaven has not left me without a way out.” Chen Feng immediately set off for Hutou Mountain. From then on, a lucky hunter began his magnificent and eventful life.
