The Ancestral Shrine Keeps the Accounts, Spiritual Offerings Seal the Contract

In the Great Xuan Immortal Dynasty, countless ancestral shrines are bound by contracts, and spiritual offerings must be paid on schedule.

Every registered shrine must be recorded in the Spiritual Contract Office and pay its incense offerings each year. If the offerings fall short or a contract expires, the shrine seal will be locked. The ancestors of that clan will lose the support of their offerings, leaving them nowhere to dwell.

Lu Chen is the last shrine keeper of the Lu clan of Qingxi.

His spiritual roots are mediocre, his talents ordinary, and the clan’s incense offerings have long failed to cover its expenses. The next offering shortfall will be audited in just one month.

The clan elders have already made their decision. They plan to seal up the ancestral shrine, seek refuge with a great sect as affiliated dependents, and abandon the shrine contract passed down through generations.

Only Lu Chen can see what others cannot on the moss-covered ancient stele in the ancestral shrine.

Not cultivation techniques, not a legacy, but the old accounts of incense offerings recorded stroke by stroke by the ancestors; the gray rules hidden beneath the Spiritual Contract Office’s treaty clauses; and the final warnings left behind by ancient sacrificial shrines whose contracts were erased.

Others cultivate immortality in pursuit of longevity. He guards the shrine, seeking only one thing:

To preserve the Lu clan’s shrine contract, protect the offerings in this shrine, and ensure the Lu family endures for generations to come.

The road to immortality is never smooth. In this world, even shrine gods must abide by ancient contracts and make their offerings on time.
