Synopsis

Jiang Xi accidentally arrives in the world of Journey to the West, becoming a remnant of the Shang dynasty under the rule of the Chan Sect, forbidden to cultivate.

Fortunately, he is in the Kingdom of Aolai, with Flower-Fruit Mountain nearby. To cultivate, he crosses the sea to the mountain, planning to hitch a ride on the Monkey King's opportunities.

After that, he is there when the monkey becomes a disciple;

he is there when Laozi travels west through Hangu Pass, and when he transforms the barbarians through Buddhism;

he is there when the Buddha attains enlightenment beneath the Bodhi tree, and when the monkey wreaks havoc in Heaven...

By hitching a ride again and again, Jiang Xi eventually looks back and realizes he has attained great freedom and unfettered ease.
