The Ashes of Ninety-Nine Civilizations

On this continent, the gods perform an archival cycle once every ten thousand years.

Whenever a civilization reaches its end, the gods do not destroy the world. Instead, they erase all history, wipe away every truth, and archive every sin.

Everyone's memories, histories, inscriptions, and legends are all reset.

Civilization starts over again and again, and humanity lives forever in a brand-new age of prosperity.

People believe theirs is the first civilization.

In truth, the cycle has repeated exactly ninety-nine times.

And the protagonist is the sole survivor of the archive:

When the gods erase the world, his soul alone cannot be archived, reset, or deleted.

He bears all the truths, all the sins, and all the mysteries behind the fall of ninety-nine civilizations.

The divine blessings praised by the people are a deception behind ninety-nine world-wide massacres.

The tales of salvation they believe in are epitaphs for extinct civilizations.
