The Gallery Street That Never Turns on Its Lights

Tang Youyou, a 28-year-old painter, runs a studio on Binhai Gallery Street, specializing in portraits of missing people. The cinnabar mole at the corner of her eye is a tracking mark, and every painting conceals coordinates. Beneath the city lie 37 dry wells, containing altered marriage records. Xu Lu, who appears to be a plumber, comes to her door and deciphers the codes hidden in her paintings. The two discover that the so-called missing-person cases are actually part of an identity theft operation carried out in the name of love: wives are replaced, lives erased, and marriage turned into a tool for profit. She pins down the truth with her paintbrush, while he pries open the conspiracy with a wrench. From standing alone to joining forces to crack the case, they expose the evil hidden behind the facade of domestic harmony.
