Lin Chen, the son of a coal miner, graduated from university and went into coal chemical engineering. Just as the industry hit a downturn, his project ran into setbacks, funding came under pressure, and his career collapsed. With nowhere else to turn, he left home and traveled far to Xinjiang in search of opportunity. Sandstorms sweep across the Gobi, while technical challenges and financial troubles keep cropping up one after another. With no miraculous cheat or lucky break, all he can do is grit his teeth and fight for a foothold amid the tides of the times, struggling, rising and falling, and chasing his dream in the shifting sands.
