Breaking Through the Heavenly Gate

Winter, 2004. Huashan County, a border town in Northeast China.

After a heavy snowfall, red flowers bloomed overnight among the birch trees in Beishan Park.

Deep in the woods, a man's corpse hung suspended. His mouth had been sewn shut with thin hemp cord, and hidden in his stomach was a piece of birch bark carved with the words, "The Mountain God demands your life."

At the same time, a "Celestial Throne Edict" spread through the streets: a bounty was placed on the heads of the Five Immortals, and whoever claimed them would take their place in the Celestial Court.

Who is the Mountain God? Who are the Five Immortals? Who issued the edict? Who is silencing the witnesses?

Everyone's fate is intertwined. Their lives collide, driving them toward the abyss.

Everyone has a Heavenly Pass in their heart that they must cross.
