Northland Bones

The night the third light came on at the Hegui County Funeral Home, a corpse sat up from the freezer. The next day, it knocked on the door of Mr. Yin Yang Gu Zhaoye's house, with only four words written on his forehead: Don't trust the living. The venomous Gu Zhaoye, the detective Lin Yanqiu who only wanted evidence, and Huang Xiaoliu, the Huangjiaxian who was greedy for money and face but never took incense for free, were tied together by a "dead man returning home case". The three of them tracked down the Snow Ridge Fairy Hall from the abandoned mine, chased from the Nine-Eyed Black Spring to the Old Port of Ten Witches, and encountered ghosts who could lie for the living, zombies driven by earth energy, and monsters that crawled back into the world from the "Book of Mountains and Seas". But ghosts can only repeat the memories they have experienced, and the compass may not be pointing to the dead. When all the wronged souls wanted to speak, Gu Zhaoye discovered that what he really should be wary of was never the ghosts outside the door, but the living people who wore human skins and used ghosts to kill people.
