There Is Fire in the Cold Territory

Twenty-seven years after the disaster, the temperature in the north was minus 43 degrees. Border refugee Chen Du escorted a female corpse to a warehouse in exchange for a legal resident certificate that would allow him to receive hot tickets. Halfway through, the female corpse opened her eyes. The Sheriff's Department wants her to testify, the black market wants her account, and the garrison wants everyone with knowledge to shut up forever. Only then did Chen Du realize that the identity his employer promised him belonged to a dead person, and the next corpse to be transported into the city should have been him. From a leaky furnace room to the safe cities in the northern border; from three or five desperadoes to partners in rebuilding the mountains and rivers. Many years later, Chen Du still remembered that what he originally wanted was just a piece of paper that allowed him to live through the winter. But when millions of people are waiting for spring, he must decide: to whom should the fire be given first, and to whom should the door be opened?
