The Seven Outlaws: The Grand Tale of Shen Huchan

The Seven Great Outlaws: The Great Tale of Shen Huchan is part of Wen Ruian's ambitious series. The published works include The Seven Great Outlaws (The Miserable Blade and Sword Sacrifice) and The General's Sword (War General, Vanguard General, Fierce General, Sharp General, Brave General, and Mahjong General). Wen Ruian never completed the later volumes he had planned. This book has seven parts, each titled after an unfinished work from his plans. The plot builds on characters, foreshadowing, and ideas from his published works, picking up after The General's Sword and filling in the missing pieces to make the story whole. The seven-part epic: Blowing the Whistle: At midnight, willow flutes sound across the five regions, while a hidden trail of silver coins leads to corruption in the Ministry of War and the dark secrets of the General's Camp. Raising the Banner: The Seven Great Outlaws are condemned on a snowy night, and Wenrou sets off alone for Bianjing with a bronze token bearing the character for “outlaw” to save the general. The Lucky General: Seven groups of assassins launch a night raid, their signal drawn from The Six Secret Teachings. The Killing General: As the first snow falls in Luoyang, Wenrou vanishes, and the Seven Great Outlaws scour the city to find her. Provoking the General: With the Jin army at the border, they join forces with the Six-and-a-Half Hall and the Beggars' Sect to defend their country. General!: Shen Huchan goes against the tide of refugees fleeing south, heading north. The vanguard fights a bloody seven-day battle on the south bank of the Yellow River. The Black-and-White Way: After the war, he retires to Jiangnan and opens Shen's Judgments, settling the bloody case of the Gongyu family's massacre. From court politics to the martial world, from personal vendettas to the fate of the nation. Read more of my works on the site!
