Ascension to the Heaven-Killing Way

In the first year of Zhenjun Taiping in the Northern Wei Dynasty, Kou Qianzhi "met Taishang Laojun" in Songshan Mountain and received the "Yun Zhongyin Chan Ke command". He was welcomed into Pingcheng by Emperor Taiwu Tuoba Tao and was named a national teacher. Taoism was established as the state religion. The Kou family became prominent because of this. But Kou Qianzhi's "ascension" was not glory, but a transaction - he used his entire family's blood as a pledge in exchange for the position of "National Preceptor" and the promise of "ascension". In the ninth year of Taiping Zhenjun's reign (448), Kou Qianzhi "became an immortal". On the night of the same day, thirty-seven members of the main branch of the Kou family "died violently" in the Pingcheng mansion. The official statement was that it was an "erysipelas attack." Kou Yunzhou survived because of his maternal grandfather's family (Zhang's family in Zhongshan, Hebei). Mother Kou hanged herself that night, leaving behind a letter written in blood: "Don't look for immortals, don't ask questions, don't be named Kou."
