Record of God Emperor's Conferment of Gods

Prologue: The three realms are robbed, and immortals and Buddhas part ways Chaos is judged, clear and turbid are determined, Pangu transforms the world with his body, Tao hides all transformations, and stands before heaven and earth. Since the Sanqing Dynasty, he has opened up the three teachings of interpretation, human beings, and interception, established the orthodox path of immortality, mastered the spiritual veins of mountains and rivers, the time sequence of stars, and the reincarnation of the underworld. He took the principle of obeying the sky, harmonizing with morality, cultivating oneself and benefiting the world as his roots, and adhered to the principle of self-generation and transformation of all things. Later, some Buddhism disciples spread from the west to the east, talking about all the suffering in the world and being imprisoned by reincarnation, advocating the severance of emotions, separation, and rebirth in the pure land, hoping to reshape the minds of all living beings with the principles of emptiness and tranquility. The Tao is rooted in the earth, and regards the heaven and earth as real, and all things have their own nature, which cannot be taken away by force. The Buddha regards cessation as his return, dislikes being bound by the world of mortals, and wants to save all living beings from the mortal world. The legal principles of the two religions are in conflict with each other, and their original intentions gradually become estranged. For thousands of years, they have been fighting endlessly. At the beginning, it was just debates between mountain fairy temples and ancient temples, and the incense in the world waxed and waned; then the fairy gates seized the spiritual veins, the Buddhist temples accepted believers, and the karma of the underworld was extradited by both parties. The mortal dynasties changed, and each had the support of immortals and Buddhas. Ordinary people are either bound by Taoist sects to follow strict rules, or are advised by Buddhist sects to abandon their worldly ties. If they disobey even a little bit, they will be pressured by monks and crazy monks from other sects. The old Emperor of Heaven lived in the Lingxiao Palace and ruled over the heavens and gods. His power was only responsible for the order of the four seasons, but he was unable to mediate the great disputes between immortals, Buddhas and saints. There are countless disciples under the command of Immortal Buddha, each holding their own sect's views and fighting at every turn. The stars and rivers are shattered and the underworld is turbulent. Countless spirits, loose cultivators, and mortals have suffered the disaster of fish in the pond. Their bodies have died and their spirits have disappeared, and their souls are drifting and helpless.
