Great Tang: Crowned Prince as a Youth, Li Er Begs Me to Become Crown Prince

After transmigrating to the Tang dynasty, he becomes Li Ke, the third son of Li Er. As someone who has transmigrated, he knows exactly how his story is supposed to end. Born of the imperial bloodlines of two dynasties, Li Ke has been viewed with suspicion by everyone from the moment he was born. Li Er gave him the name "Ke," meaning cautious and respectful, hoping he would be content to live as an ordinary prince. With Zhangsun Wuji watching him, and Li Chengqian and Li Tai keeping an eye on him, he has no choice but to seem even more ordinary. Fortunately, he awakens a Lord System that issues three monthly tasks related to people's livelihoods, infrastructure, and the military. Completing them earns rewards. But how can he put it to use while stuck in Chang'an? In the third year of the Zhenguan era, Li Ke asks to be sent away to govern a post, but is refused because he is not yet fifteen. The following year, his second request is finally approved. He arrives in Long'an County, Mianzhou, and chooses the two poorest, most remote villages in all of Tang as his fief. Two years pass. Sweet potatoes and potatoes fill the public granaries; canals turn drought-stricken fields into fertile farmland; paved roads run all the way to the county seat; communal dining halls serve three full meals a day; and a work-point system gets even the laziest people to pick up their hoes. His entire fief has been transformed, while the annual reports sent to Chang'an always say the same four words: "All is as usual." In the autumn of the sixth year of Zhenguan, Li Shimin travels south in disguise and sees this supposedly "unchanged" backwater with his own eyes. He looks around as he travels, his expression changing with every step. That evening, he pats his son on the shoulder. "You call this all as usual?" Li Ke, covered in mud, says, "Father, I was only giving it a try..." "That's enough trying. Come back to Chang'an with me." "What for?" Li Shimin falls silent for a moment. "I want you to become Crown Prince..."
