Tai Chi Ballad

"Tai Chi Ballad" is a long narrative work based on Xunyang in southern Shaanxi. The story takes wandering photographer Shen Qinglan's return to his hometown as a clue, using the lens as the eye and the steps as the ruler to measure the land surrounded by the Han River and the Xun River. At the Songjialing Observation Deck, she marveled at the "Chinese Natural Tai Chi City" created by the uncanny workmanship of the 180° Qiankun Bay; in the Shuhe Ancient Town, she walked through the 1,700-year-old bluestone lanes and listened to the pear music performed by the Huangzhou Guild Hall. Old dreams in the garden and the chants of trackers in front of the Yangsi Temple; in the Luantangou Orange Garden, she recorded the sweet career of new farmers watered with ingenuity; in the printmaking academy and the shadow puppet backstage, she used images to preserve the roots of the intangible cultural heritage skills that are about to disappear. From the dazzling night scene of "the city is full of lights and stars" to the thousand-year-old chant of "a song of Xun water around Tai Chi", the work connects natural wonders, ancient charm of commerce, intangible inheritance and changes of the times in twelve chapters, outlining a long scroll of Xun Yang where landscape and humanities are intertwined. This is not only a journey of discovery for a returnee, but also a mountain and river ballad dedicated to the hometown - my hometown is so beautiful that it deserves each of us to speak for it.
