Electric People's Era

Some year in the future, an accident occurred in a closed-loop experiment originally used for nerve repair. The consciousness of some scientists did not die, but continued in the electrical system, becoming the first batch of "electric citizens". They communicate with humans through screens and are able to understand and adjust complex information in electronic systems at a speed far faster than ordinary people. As a result, they are involved in huge controversies in medical care, politics, capital, national security, labor systems, and the definition of human identity. This is not a simple technological miracle, nor is it a myth of immortality. Electric citizens need power, cooling, a low-noise carrying environment, a body feedback layer, and institutional protection. Humans need their abilities, but they are also afraid of their existence. When there are really people in the machine, the first thing civilization has to answer is not what they can do, but whether humans have the right to turn them off when they don't know whether they are still human.
