Late at night in Chang'an, the young calligrapher Qin Jian was forced to unlock the sealed ancient book "Tianji Jian" for the King of Jin. He originally thought that he would only need to tamper with a few pieces of history against his will, but he discovered that what was sealed in the slips was actually the original power of writing, and what King Jin really wanted to tamper with was the lifeblood of the entire dynasty. In order to protect the historical truth, Qin Jian took the mysterious jade tablet and fled to "Shouwen Guan", the holy land of wordsmiths deep in the Qinling Mountains. Here, he meets Lin Su, an orphan from Yangzhou who can observe stars and discern history, and learns that a massacre at a salt factory fifty years ago is being quietly erased from history by the mastermind behind it. The two went south against the rules and discovered that the usurper of history actually mastered the taboo technique "Memory Implantation" that can implant false memories into people's hearts. The pursuit led them westward out of Yumen and deep into the desert to find the legendary "Gate of Wenyuan". There sleeps the original power of creating words, and also contains the heaviest choice of the wordsmith lineage: to become a god who controls history, or to continue to be a mortal guarding the truth? When the conspiracy to tamper with history reaches its peak at Yumen Pass, Qin Jian must face the ultimate torture: when using the power of words to fight against power, how to ensure that he will not become a new tamperer?
