After the Smiling Assassin ended his career as one of the greatest point guards in history, things didn't go very smoothly for him. As a commentator, he was criticized by Bill Walton for being incoherent. He bought the CBA, and the league went bankrupt and folded. As a general manager, he was unceremoniously run out of Toronto. He didn't have Larry Bird's perfectionist arrogance, so he was still shameless enough to try his hand at coaching the Pacers. Then came his disastrous tenure as Knicks general manager, followed by his coaching career. The only thing he could really be praised for was having a decent eye for talent.
