Red Tide Era

In 2147, "Xinchang City" on the Pacific coast was swallowed by a strange red tide - ancient diatoms released by melting glaciers carried viruses and turned into orange-red toxins that swept the earth. The infected people's muscles hardened and their blood changed color, turning them into irrational zombies. When former ecologist Lin Ye's laboratory fell, he fled with his only ice core sample and his assistant, just to rescue his mother in the intensive care unit.​ On the way, he encounters scavengers who plunder supplies, and the "Purifiers", an extremist organization that pursues "removing polluters".
