The Hedger

In 2025, the world is gripped by AI fever. Vast sums of capital pour into large language models and AGI, heralding a future of unified intelligence. Yet beneath the extravaganza, a group of “hedgers” clear-eyedly spot a fatal blind spot in the way people think. They are wary not only of the financial risks of an AI bubble, but also challenge humanity’s unquestioning faith in a single path to “intelligence.”

This book introduces three groups of unconventional hedge fund managers: Aiden, a former neuroscientist who questions the “hallucinated intelligence” of LLMs at its scientific roots; Carter, a data analyst who exposes the lies about AI’s real-world applications with an iron hand; and the young idealists Jindi and Roger, who bet on low-power, decentralized “insect-like intelligence.”

The Hedgers is not only a gripping tale of financial warfare, but also a thought-provoking technological parable. It offers a profound reflection on how humanity defines intelligence, the blind obedience of capital, and the true meaning of technological progress. This is a hedge against more than a financial bubble: it is a hedge on human intelligence and destiny. In the end, these unconventional thinkers do more than win fortunes: they reshape the world’s understanding of “intelligence” and prove that when everyone else bets on AI ruling the world, some choose to bet that humanity isn’t dead yet.
