Hakone, Without a Word

Beneath Hakone’s beautiful scenery, dark currents run deep. Detective Kubo investigates a murder and uncovers a cold case involving a lake, one that stretches back fifty years: geologist Saito disappeared after warning of the risks of development, and now a similar tragedy is unfolding again. Dirty money, silencing witnesses, a buried geological disaster, and an organ-trafficking network operating behind a hot-spring resort are all intertwined. As Kubo pursues the killer, he discovers that his own father was involved. Under the silent gaze of Mount Fuji, he must confront a web of darkness and cry out at last on behalf of the voiceless mountains and lakes, and the dead.
