In 2004, Jing County, Quancheng Prefecture.

Chen Xuanqing is a student at Mingyue High School and the heir to the Demon-Suppressing Shrine in Lingcuo Village.

In his previous life, he was killed by the Pu family, fellow villagers. Now he has returned with his memories intact, eighteen years into the past.

At this time, spiritual energy is gradually returning, and the Blood Moon calamity is still two years away. Demons and monsters are wreaking havoc in the human world, and the state has established a Paranormal Investigation Bureau to recruit people with extraordinary abilities and suppress those who use supernatural arts to break the law.

“Demons and monsters don’t matter. Neither do the gods. What matters to ordinary people is being able to live without them.”

Many years later, with the world turned upside down, Chen Xuanqing could only hope that there would still be room for the warmth and bustle of ordinary life.
