Transmigrate as Li Gongfu and reenact Legend of the White Snake! I’ve become Li Gongfu, a low-ranking constable who can’t even aspire to the lowest seventh-rank post. In theory, all I need to do is catch the occasional petty thief and I’ll have done my duty. But I have a brother-in-law at home who can’t stay out of trouble. He went and got involved with two snake spirits, leaving me to clean up a whole mess. That would be bad enough, but there’s also some bizarre “Heavenly Prison” that sends me up to heaven and down to earth every few days to capture gods, ghosts, demons, and monsters causing trouble. Toad spirits and centipede spirits are understandable enough. The Tree Demon Granny and the Black Mountain Old Demon are just about tolerable, too. But what’s with this sharp-faced snake spirit, more troublesome than the Green and White Snakes, who once took down the Seven Calabash Brothers?
