A General Introduction to Modern Chinese Old-style Poetry

Li Yuchun Et Al.

270K0

This book is a phased result of the National Social Science Foundation's major project "Compilation and Research of the Multi-Volume Chronicle of Modern and Contemporary Chinese Old Style Poetry and Database Construction" (18ZDA263). This book explores the basic issues in the creation and research of modern Chinese old-style poetry in the past century from the perspective of the old-new debate. Although it is directly related to the dispute between the old and the new in the cultural sense, returning to the literary and stylistic sense to explore the dispute between the old and the new is the starting point of this book. In the academic order of century-old Chinese literature centered on New Literature, national traditional old-style literature, including old-style poetry, has long been ignored or devalued. However, in fact, although the century-old Chinese traditional poetry has gone through many battles between the old and the new, such as the May Fourth period, the Anti-Japanese War, etc., It still tenaciously continues the modern lifeline of the long Chinese classical poetry tradition. Compared with the century-old Chinese new poetry creation, the century-old Chinese old-style poetry creation has not only achieved comparable historical achievements as a whole, but in specific historical periods, it may be slightly less popular, or keep pace with it, or even be even more popular. The stylistic destiny of century-old Chinese poetry is related to the current literary education system and media communication methods. There is a voluminous collection of modern Chinese old-style poetry documents. With the large-scale excavation and compilation of century-old old-style documents in the new century, the other side of modern Chinese literary history is increasingly revealed like an iceberg under the sea. Only by breaking through the existing academic mindset of binary opposition between old and new can we objectively explore the creative achievements of old-style poetry by different groups of poets in specific historical periods in the past century, thereby vigorously promoting the canonization process of modern Chinese old-style poetry and welcoming the stylistic renaissance of Chinese poetry tradition in the new century.

General History of the West: the Current Era

(germany) Heinrich August Winkler

443K0

This volume is the last volume in the four-volume "General History of the West" written by the German historian Winkler. Since the end of the Cold War, the world has become neither simpler nor more peaceful. Terrorist attacks, territorial disputes, global financial turmoil, financial and people's livelihood issues, the struggle between nation-state interests and supranational communities, the refugee crisis, and the Ebola epidemic have had a profound impact on all mankind. They have once again challenged what the "West" is and how the "West" will stand. This short period of contemporary history is full of crises and changes. It is not a final conclusion to the entire long history of the West, but an open discussion that faces current world issues head-on. As a responsible intellectual, historian Winkler did not shy away from talking about these issues because of the unforeseeable outcome and insufficient research documents. He admitted that all conclusions on contemporary history are inevitably tentative and subjective, and believed that to escape from real difficulties, international scholars need to be determined to be realistic, otherwise they will not be able to raise illuminating questions and substantive answers. It is this point that allows readers to see once again that "the West" is not a static "conclusion", but a dynamic development "process". It is the product of continuous shaping of ideology and political practice, and it is also a manifestation of continuous mistakes and self-regulation on the way to pursue values such as freedom and democracy. Winkler also firmly believes that the ideological legacy of 1776 and 1789 is still far from exhausted.

The Relationship between the Silk Road and Han and Tang Literature

Shi Yuntao

431K0

The Silk Road is a road of great significance that promotes the progress of human civilization. It is first of all the result of "human" activities, and human activities are bound to be reflected in literature. Literature is the image reflection and emotional projection of human social life. The development and changes of literature are a barometer of social and historical development and changes. Literature is the aesthetic expression of human social history. When human society had the Silk Road, it also had literature reflecting the Silk Road. This road of economic trade, cultural exchange, and mutual learning among civilizations has long been the object of literary expression. Poetry, prose, novels, and other literary styles in the Han and Tang Dynasties all have rich Silk Road connotations, reflecting the Silk Road's transportation conditions, natural features, historical changes, and Sino-foreign exchanges. The economic and trade activities of the Silk Road and the achievements of foreign civilizations have become literary images, inspiring people's interest and inspiration in creation, and injecting fresh blood and powerful power into literature.

(dutch) Editor-in-chief Lin Cuiqing And Others

196K0

This book contains nine original essays written by cultural historians, classical writers, art historians, and music historians. They used literature as a path to discover the sights, sounds and smells of the Southern Song Dynasty from 1127 to 1279 and its capital in Hangzhou (then called Lin'an). They tell readers the importance of music and dance in the lives of scholars in the Southern Song Dynasty, where the sense of uneasiness came from in the "metropolis" of the 12th century, and how when people walk through the streets in the countryside, they will hear the symphony of chirping birds, the ringing of temple bells and labor trumpets. The author of this book does not intend to explore general trends of the times such as urban architecture and commercial development, but only focuses on a text, a writer or a literary style, so as to restore the specific and historical relationship between the text and the city, and between the act of writing and urban experience. "City of the Senses" proposes a new approach to the study of Chinese cities; it also contributes to the study of the general history of urban senses.
