The creatures panicked and rushed to stop him, eyes red as they begged him not to give up. No matter what he became, they would always love him.

They carried him out of the tower and laid him on an altar in the city.

Below the altar were the creatures he had purged during the apocalypse. They gazed up at him and prayed devoutly for his recovery.

Then sunlight broke through the clouds and descended upon him.
