My Crush Can't Write a Thesis, So He Keeps Me as His Canary

[❤️The main story is complete, and it's a short story❤️]

[Next story will be available for pre-order next week: My Ex-Boyfriend Took Me Home After I Returned to the Country]

Chu Xi falls in love at first sight with a poor student working at a bar. That very night, he follows the student without permission, then uses a contract to bring him home. When the student asks what their relationship is, Chu Xi brushes him off with the trendy term in their circle, "keeping a canary."

He gets what he wants: Wu Mian really does become his canary.

The little canary rarely goes out and doesn't touch a cent of the money on his card. Every day, he does his part and then stays home playing video games, barely socializing with anyone outside. Still, it feels wonderful to have someone waiting for him after work. With Wu Mian living there, even the empty villa gradually starts to feel like home.

Wu Mian is good at being sweet but isn't clingy. There's no need to chain him up. He quietly nests in his gilded cage, the very picture of perfection and obedience.

What kind of family could have raised such a well-behaved, lovely boy?

Chu Xi thinks he should treat him well, spoil him, and give him a proper title.

He asks his friends for advice, books a private island, and carefully plans a confession. Of course, it's a surprise he's keeping from his little canary. Just imagining how the little canary might react makes the corners of his mouth lift involuntarily.

Ding dong.

Mian Mian has texted him. What a clingy little canary.

The next second, his smile freezes.

[Sorry, let's break up.]

[I'm starting school soon anyway, so I'll move out as soon as I can.]

Starting school? Moving out? Where is he moving? Is he leaving Chu Xi?

Chu Xi won't allow it.

Content warnings:

1. First-person narration, pursuer's point of view, slightly obsessive love interest. Written to suit personal tastes; don't overthink the plot logic.

2. The love interest orchestrated his becoming the pursuer's canary. Due to the point of view, this won't be shown in this story. The next story, My Ex-Boyfriend Took Me Home After I Returned to the Country, will add a little more about Wu Mian.

3. The main characters aren't perfect, especially when it comes to relationships. They're both inexperienced and may act immaturely.

Theme: No matter how poor you are, never deprive anyone of an education. No matter how hard things get, never deprive your canary of anything
