[Main story complete 💖 | Content warning: melodramatic angst!! The gong really hates the shou from the start! Later, he learns the truth but never regains his memories, and gets jealous of his "former self." ]
Youhuai was exceptionally gifted, but just after joining the sect, he was given a humiliating welcome.
The immortal sect's famous frail beauty fainted in front of everyone during Youhuai's initiation ceremony.
No one spared a thought for the cup of tea he had prepared for his master. Everyone rushed to carry the unconscious beauty back to the mountain's rear slopes for treatment.
On top of that, Youhuai was suspected of being an evil spirit in disguise and forced to stand before the Mirror of Heaven to have his past and present lives examined.
It was an utter disgrace!
-
Though Youhuai couldn't stand Wen Chu, everyone on the mountain doted on him. Since Youhuai's cultivation was still weak and he had to remain at the sect, they forcibly assigned him to be the sick beauty's personal attendant.
Youhuai swallowed his anger, but Wen Chu was just as oblivious.
Every day, he either ordered Youhuai to circulate his qi and unblock his meridians, or climbed onto Youhuai's chest in the middle of the night to warm his feet... And Youhuai couldn't scold or criticize him. Whenever they disagreed, Wen Chu would lean weakly against the couch and complain of pain. If he got any more worked up, his dark eyes would roll back, and he would pass out.
He had eaten so many rare medicinal treasures, yet his face remained deathly pale, like a perennial block of ice that could never be warmed, or a thin layer of snow that would vanish without a trace as soon as it melted.
-
When spring arrived, Wen Chu insisted that Youhuai take him down the mountain for a visit.
The mortal world was cold. In the middle of the night, the bed was icy, and the sick beauty burrowed into his arms like a block of ice, softly calling him "dear junior brother."
After calling him several times and getting no reply, Wen Chu suddenly fell silent.
Youhuai counted to ten, then couldn't resist opening his eyes. Only then did he see Wen Chu curled up on the bed, clutching his chest. One hand was all that showed, feebly tugging at the hem of Youhuai's clothes like a cat.
That hand was thin and bony, as though it would snap with the slightest bend.
And yet somehow, it tore a piece right out of his heart.
Highlights:
1. Melodramatic angst!! Includes revengeful wall pinning!! Not sweet!! The gong really hates the shou from the start! Later, he learns the truth but never regains his memories, and gets even worse because he is jealous of his "former self."
2. There are some scum-and-masochist elements, and the romance is frustrating too. I was in a bad mood and just wanted to write something different to keep my skills sharp, so I'm posting it as an archive. If this pairing isn't for you, please, please run away [bites handkerchief]. You don't need to read it just for this pairing, either. It's just a short piece to sharpen my claws, with no real logic. It's melodrama for melodrama's sake.
3. A short story with no logic, everything serves the play. This couple is into this sort of thing.
