[Dream of the Red Chamber] The Dowager Empress's Retired Life

From her second week on the job, Jiang Xiu had only one dream: retirement.

After ten years of being worked like a horse, an accident leaves her opening her eyes to a pair dressed in bright yellow, weeping miserably before her. "The Retired Emperor has suffered a stroke and cannot get out of bed. Empress Dowager, no matter how deeply you grieve, you must take care of yourself!"

When Jiang Xiu discovers that the Empress Dowager is only forty this year, tears of joy stream down her face. She's retired early, and her pension is still at the highest rate in the country!

Her retirement routine of eating, drinking, and taking it easy is stirred up by the appearance of a court lady named Jia Yuanchun.

The Emperor discovers that his mother, who had started to "pull herself together," is once again weeping into the wind.

The Emperor, who supports his mother with the wealth of the realm to demonstrate his filial piety, says, "Mother, whatever you want, your son will get it for you."

The Empress Dowager sighs. "It's not that I'm lacking anything. I'm just lonely without children around. I wonder about the eligible young ladies in the capital..."

The Emperor turns to the chief eunuch. "You heard her. Come up with a plan within three days, settle the arrangements within five, and make sure my mother is smiling by the tenth!"

The Empress Dowager: ...Go on, Emperor. I really can't bear to listen to this.

This should be a completely lie-flat, cheerful slice-of-life story, with an Empress Dowager who spends her days complaining about the life of an overworked office drone.

*Another day of loving Daiyu the most~
